Carter's 2nd Birthday (home party)

Can you believe that this baby is 2?????

Carter turned 2 years old on July 16th. His birthday was on a Thursday and we were having his party on Saturday, but I could not let the actual day go by without celebrating. I think that birthday's are a special day and should be celebrated to the fullest. My mom, Madilyn (niece) and Miranda (my brother's girlfriend) came in on Thursday afternoon to help get the real party together. We got a cake from Bakery by George in Garland and sang to Carter after dinner.

When we started singing, Carter got scared and tried to climb out of his chair. He wasn't sure about all of this.

Bryce and I helped him blow out his candle.

Then, he decided that he liked us singing to him and he kept singing Happy Birthday to "Taatee" (what he calls himself - supposed to be Cartee)

He wasn't sure about the cake either.

Mommy gave him a taste...

And he loved it!!!

Mommy and her 2 year old. I just look at Carter and wonder where has the time gone. He has grown and changed so much in the last 2 years. He is turning into a big boy and looking less like a baby. I am so thankful that God chose me to be his mommy. I am thankful for my boys and look forward to many more Happy Birthday's!

Fun at the Waterview Swimming Pool....

This summer we have been spending a lot of time at the community pool to stay cool. Unfortunately, I don't have too many pictures because it is hard to take pictures and hold on the Carter at the same time. My mom was here during this trip and I was able to get a few pictures of the boys at the pool.
In the 2 ft. kiddie pool, there are 5 hanging buckets that dump water. Bryce will take his basketball and throw it up in the buckets and wait for it to dump out. When it dumps, he jumps in and gets it. He will stand and do this for hours.
At the beginning of the summer (these pics are from then) he was scared to get in without his life jacket, but now he doesn't wear it in the smaller pools.

Bryce can swim under water pretty good but he is not so good at treading water. I think he will be swimming by himself next summer.

Carter is the one who keeps Mommy on her toes. The first time we went, he didn't want to get in the water. The next time he would get in and let us drag him around. Now, he runs and jumps in the big pool. I have to keep his life jacket on at all times and keep a hand on him as well. We will definitely be taking swimming lessons next year.

"Unna toss you??"

As a dad and son often do, Shawn and Bryce love to wrestle and play on our bed. This often involves Shawn picking up Bryce and tossing him onto the bed. Bryce has always called it "the airplane". Recently, Carter decided that he might want to give it a try and now he repeatly asks for it. Carter will climb on the bed, get close to the edge and say, "unna toss you" (meaning -Do you want me to toss you?). The boys love doing this.

Bryce's 1st Trophy

Bryce has officially received his first trophy!! At the end of the season, the Sasche baseball association had an end of season parade and ceremony. We did not participate in the parade because it was hot and involved everyone walking a couple of miles. We did attend the trophy ceremony and everyone on the team received a trophy. Bryce had a great time playing on the Red Ranger team. We are so proud of our Big boy and can't wait until T-ball next year.

My big boy and his trophy!

Mommy and Bryce! So proud of my little man!

One last "Go Red Rangers"!

Out of the mouth of Bryce....

Bryce has been saying some very cute and funny things lately and I wanted to write them down so I would not forget them.

Preface to the 1st saying....
When Bryce was a baby, he had a fisher price music box that was on the end of his crib. He could turn it on and off and it would light up and play music. He loved that thing and even when we moved him out of the crib, he would keep it beside him in his big boy bed. He called it his "fishies". When Carter was born, I was going to let him use Bryce's fishies but Bryce wasn't going to allow that to happen, so we bought Carter his own (which we sold in a gargage sale a few weeks ago).
Anyway, the other day, he wanted to go swimming so I told him to get his swim shorts on while I finished cleaning the kitchen. He came back in his swim shorts and was holding his "fishies". He looked at me as serious as he could and said, "Mommy, Carter can have my fishies. I am done with them. I am not a baby anymore and I don't need them". I wanted to cry. I asked Bryce who told him that he wasn't a baby anymore because he would always be my baby.
I guess that I have to realize that My baby is growing up faster than I would like.

2nd funny saying....
I always love on my kids and tell them to stay little forever. Bryce recently informed me that he was a little big and a little little.

3rd saying....
On Saturday, I decided to take Carter to the doctor because he wasn't feeling well. On the way there Bryce said, "Mommy, my heart is beeping and I need to see Dr. Straughn too".

I love this little boy and while I wish he could stay little forever, I know that he will grow up. I am trying to cherish every day because I know that time is flying by.

Easter Bunny Photo 4/11/09

We took the kids to the Bass Pro Shop to see the Easter Bunny and this is how it went. I think that we can all figure out who enjoyed seeing the Easter Bunny and who didn't! :)

Our Star Student of the Week...

Bryce is the star student in his class for the weeks of April 13 - 24th. We had to make an "About Me" poster to hang in his class and Shawn worked on this poster for about 8 hours. He tried to incorporate all of the things that Bryce likes now, such as, TV shows, restaruants, places to go and things to do. The teacher also sent home a Star Student bag in which Bryce gets to take some of his favorite toys to share with the class. On Tuesday, he took 2 elephants, a Chuck. E Cheese stuffed animal and Marty (the zebra from Madagascar). He was so excited about being the Star Student. Have I mentioned how much I love his school, WCA??? Well, I do!
